Warrior Lover - Origins - Episode 23 - Lofty Advice
As I remained on my knees, still absorbing the shock, she spoke loftily—about how feelings are fleeting, how the heart is brittle, how heartbreak is not the end of the world, and so on. But her words went over me, distant and weightless.
In the backdrop, the fortress I had fondly crafted was crumbling. And here she was, lecturing on how to handle an emotional setback. To me. A warrior!
I knew very well, that love is given freely, or not given at all. Love when given, is given out of love only – not in reciprocation, gratitude or even as a gift. At this time, I needed no lessons, not even comfort – I needed just the truth.
I stood up and looked at her—she still hadn’t finished her lecture.
Despite my grief, I could still see that she had chosen kindness all this time—at least in words—when she could have been abrupt and harsh.
She did not want my heart, yet she cared enough not to break it mercilessly. She did not deny, or even question its genuineness. She did not diminish me or my feelings in any way, despite being under a pressing circumstance!
Amazed by this quiet grace, my sufferings softened, tears subsided, and a smile spread across my face.
I had finally begun to understand. The words stung, yet through the ache, I now clearly saw the truth. Gathering all the strength I could, I told her—I accepted the new reality, respected her decision, and was sorry for this whole misadventure.
